The Tralee town centre site was donated to the people of the town by Kerry Group in 2014.

The Denny bacon factory closed in December 2008 after 82 years.

At its peak, it was one of Tralee’s largest employers, with 400 staff.

In 2014, owners of the site Kerry Group donated it to the then Tralee Town Council.

On Thursday morning next, Kerry County Council will launch the first phase of public consultation on the future use of the former Denny’s site.

They’ll unveil details of the public consultation, and launch a new website detailing the history of the site, and explaining how the public can be involved in the regeneration of it.

EU funding of €1.5 million has been sanctioned for the redevelopment of the 2.3 acre site, with the help of the Southern Regional Assembly.
