« BackCouncil seeks meeting with Minister over rheumatology crisis at UHK

headerKerry County Council is to seek a meeting with the Minister for Health Simon Harris, to resolve the rheumatology crisis at University Hospital Kerry.

Consultant Rheumatologist Dr Mohammad Haroon has submitted a letter of resignation to hospital management – it’s thought possibly due to the failure to appoint a clinical nursing specialist in rheumatology.

The issue was raised at the recent monthly meeting of the council by Norma Moriarty, Jim Finucane, Norma Foley, and John Joe Culloty.

They’re calling on the Minister to intervene and take all necessary steps to stop the Consultant Rheumatologist from leaving, and to get an Advanced Nurse Practitioner appointed.
