Kerry County Council says works being undertaken on the water supply in Tralee town centre must be done now for engineering purposes.

Senior Executive Engineer with the council, Eamon Scanlan says there’s a short window of time to get them complete before the works start on making Denny Street two-way and introducing shared-space on The Mall.

Mr Scanlan says these works couldn’t take place at the same time as they would cause too much disruption.

Tralee Chamber Alliance has described the timing of the water supply works in the run up to the Christmas period as bizarre.

Eamon Scanlan says while there will be disruption, access will be maintained, and the council hopes they’ll be complete before Christmas.
