« BackCouncil monitoring algal scum on largest of Lakes of Killarney

Kerry County Council says further tests are awaited to establish the cause of a new algal scum which has appeared on parts of the shoreline of Lough Leane.

The council has asked members of the public to exercise caution at the lake and to avoid areas where the scum has emerged.
Director of services with the council, John Breen, says unlike the algal bloom of several years ago, climatic conditions over the last few weeks are the likely cause this time round.
