Kerry County Council is expected to receive a report on drainage works at Kilmoyley Graveyard shortly.
Locals have raised the issue for some time over continued flooding in the burial ground.
The local authority engaged a consultant to carry out a hydrogeological survey which looks at the groundwater, and the results of this are due soon.
The council says any recommendations to improve drainage in the graveyard will be considered for inclusion in the works programme for 2017, and these would be carried out next spring or summer.
The council was responding to a query from Kerry County Councillor John Lucid at the recent Listowel Municipal District meeting.
