Kerry County Council has apologised to motorists travelling through Killorglin who’ve been experiencing tailbacks and traffic jams.
In recent days, motorists have reported to Radio Kerry of tailbacks of up to half an hour in duration.
The council is carrying out major traffic calming works and resurfacing on the Iveragh road on the N70 in Killorglin towards Glenbeigh.
It says it’s working to complete the works as soon as possible.
The council says that the works – insofar as they cause disruption to traffic – will be completed by the end of the month.
Kerry County Council staff have been in contact in recent weeks with school authorities in the vicinity to advise them of the delays involved and to make them aware – in particular exam students – of the need to allow for extra time when travelling.
Ger Counihan has a bar on the Iveragh road.
