Kerry County Council has apologised for a failure to notify motorists of roadworks on the main Tralee to Killarney road, which are causing major traffic delays.
This morning, a contractor began the works on behalf of the council in the centre of Farranfore village resulting in traffic being reduced to one lane leading to lenghty tailbacks.
The works are to repair the road surface after a severe water main break in the village in August.
Drivers are asked to take an alternative route and those going to Kerry Airport are being urged to allow extra time for their journey.
Communications Manager with Kerry County Council Owen O’Shea says it is expected the roadworks will be completed this evening around 6pm:
