« BackControversy over nudity in public dance event at Banna Strand

There’s been controversy over the presence of some nudity in a dance piece performed publicly on Banna Strand.

Butterflies and Bones: The Casement ProjectFéile Fáilte – touted as a family friendly day of events – included the dance piece which was choreographed by artist Fearghus Ó Conchúir, took place on Banna Strand last Saturday.

Dancers performed ‘Butterflies and Bones: The Casement Project’, which was said to draw inspiration from Roger Casement who landed with arms on Banna Strand to help the Easter Rising.

Premiered recently in London, the piece was performed after 9.30pm and featured some nudity – which did not sit well with some of those in attendance.


There were local dancers, live musicians and a performance of Oileáin by Siamsa Tíre as part of Féile Fáilte on Banna – and other poeple were complimentary of the event:
