« BackCon Keating commemorative plaque unveiled at family homestead

con keatingAs part of the 1916 commemorations, a plaque has been unveiled this afternoon for Cornelius ‘Con’ Keating.

Con Keating was one of the first casualties of the 1916 Rising, when he drowned in the River Laune while on a mission for the Republic on Good Friday, 1916.

The commemorative plaque was unveiled by Con’s nephew, Donal at the Keating family homestead in Reenard this afternoon, at an event organised by Reenard GAA and Reenard Development Group.

There will also be a commemorative football game in honour of Con Keating, Donal Sheehan and Charles Monaghan, who died at Ballykissane Pier, will be held on Easter Monday at 1pm, between St. Marys and Renard at Con Keating Park Cahersiveen.
