Four-year-old Ceejay McArdle from Co Monaghan was diagnosed with leukaemia two years ago and has been undergoing treatment in Crumlin Children’s Hospital ever since.
The little boy wants to be a Garda when he grows up and following requests from his parents messages of support have flooded in from police forces around the world.
Ceejay was made an honorary member of the Gardaí by Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan recently in Templemore Garda College.
Coffee mornings are being held by Gardaí in Tralee, Killarney and Listowel today as part of a national initiative.
Funds will be used to send Ceejay to New York with his parents to take part in the St Patrick’s Day parade.
