The Irish Coast Guard has unveiled a new information system.
‘Oversee’ will be used in the National Maritime Operations Centre in Dublin and in the sub centres in Valentia and Malin.
In a single year the coast guard expects to handle 2,500 marine emergencies, assist 4,500 people and save 200 lives.
Oversee promises to boost the coast guard’s incident management as well as its search and rescue functions.
The new system already has a proven track record as the Portuguese navy is already using it.
