« BackClune suggests fault in vocational educational system for Chefs

deirdre_clune_4_site-211x300Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune believes there is an obvious problem in the Irish vocational educational system when it comes to chefs.

According to the MEP, the Restaurant Association of Ireland are currently recruiting chefs from abroad, yet, almost 16% of Irish young people are unemployed.

Ms Clune said that there are also expected to be 20,000 chef vacancies in the next 4 years, yet, only around 1,800 chefs are being trained in Ireland annually.

The MEP said, in relation to the Restaurant Association of Ireland holding a recruitment fare in Croatia, that there will be more costs for restaurants and a direct threat to the tourism industry in Ireland.
