Sinn Féin councillor Toireasa Ferris says she doesn’t expect an apology will be forthcoming from US officials as the why her father’s arrival in Boston was delayed.
Deputy Martin Ferris had been due to fly out on Wednesday at 11.30am ahead of St Patrick’s Day for a number of official engagements in the US.
However, on his arrival at the airport at 8am he was questioned by US immigration officials, which resulted in him missing his flight.
He was further questioned on his arrival in Boston.
Cllr Ferris said her father had applied for a visa in advance and had opted to travel on an ordinary passport instead of a diplomatic one.
She said he was now making up for the time lost and was attending meetings.
