The Vice-Governor of China’s Zhejiang province paid an official visit to Tralee today.
Jiwei Zheng was accompanied on the visit to Tralee by the Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, Jianguo Xu.
For a number of years Kerry County Council has been developing links with Zhejiang province.
A public performance of traditional Chinese music, song and dance by the Butterfly Troupe, a traditional orchestra affiliated with the Zhejiang Opera, took place at Siamsa Tíre.
This was followed by the official opening of the Zhejiang Re-Design Exhibition at the Kerry County Museum.
Chinese Ambassador to Ireland Jianguo Xu told Radio Kerry News that cultural exchanges such as these were extremely important for Ireland and China and that co-operation like this would lead to greater economic prosperity.
He also said that he was delighted to be in Kerry.
