The CEO of Barnardos says lessons must be learned from the Client B case in the Cork/Kerry area.
A 19 year old person with intellectual disabilities was left in a foster home in the region for some time after allegations of sexual abuse were made against a foster carer in the residence.
The Child and Family Agency Tusla removed two foster children from the home when they were alerted to the allegations, but the 19 year old, who had been there since 2003, remained in the home for some time.
The CEO of Barnardos Fergus Finlay is questioning why measures weren’t put in place to prevent vulnerable people from being put in this kind of situation.
He says we shouldn’t be looking for heads to roll, but for lessons to be learned from these mistakes.
