Transition year students at two Castleisland secondary schools are set to design a Formula One car in the F1 Schools Technology Challenge.

St. Patrick’s Secondary School and the Presentation Convent have signed up for the challenge which is operated in Ireland by the Irish Computer Society.

The school’s teams – Hibernia F1 and Firebolt F1 – will be required to make an aerodynamic model F1™ car.

Paul Walsh of the joint transition year programme said it’ll be just like running a Formula One team as they must seek sponsorship alongside marketing and designing their car.
