« BackShock in Castleisland as local man loses life in Limerick crane tragedy

It has emerged that one of the men who lost their lives in a tragic crane accident on Limerick’s Thomond Bridge yesterday, was from Castleisland.


TJ O’Herlihy from Tullig lost his life when the steel cage he had been suspended in, broke away from the crane it was attached to, and fell in the River Shannon.

Another man died in the incident – which is being investigated by the HSA – while a third man was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he continues to receive treatment.

Mr O’Herlihy, said to be in his late 30s, is understood to have only started work in Limerick last week.
