« BackCarrauntoohil climbs on Friday to raise funds for charity

A host of rugby stars including Donal Lenihan, Tony Ward, Fergus Slattery and Simon Best will climb Carrauntoohil tomorrow to raise funds for two charities working in Africa.

Other sports stars taking part include Sonia O’Sullivan, Seán Óg Ó hAilpín and Eoin Hand.

Caps to the Summit is an initiative to raise money for the Alan Kerins Projects charity and Gorta Selp Help Africa.

The climbers will assemble at Keel Community Centre this evening before heading for Ireland’s highest mountain at dawn.

Meanwhile another charity climb of Carrauntoohil takes place tomorrow. The 54321 Challenge for cancer support will see three teams head to the summit as part of a four-day event.
