Zip-lines should be installed at the Tralee Wetlands Centre, in an effort to attract more visitors.
That’s according to Labour Cllr Terry O’Brien who raised the issue at the Tralee Municipal District monthly meeting.
Cllr O’Brien was seeking an update on future plans to upgrade activities at Tralee Wetlands Centre.
He said “kids get bored” and new attractions, such as the suggested zip-line, could enhance the centre.
Fine Gael Cllr Jim Finucane said he agreed with Cllr O’Brien and that “something more” was needed.
Responding to Cllr O’Brien’s request, the meeting heard a Zorbing Arena, Nature Board Walk and Outdoor Classroom had been added as attractions since its official opening in 2012.
In 2015 a Climbing Wall and Bouldering Area were introduced.
In 2016, the centre launches audio hand held guides in English, French and German, with information relating to the tower, board-walk and bird-holes.
Plans to attract Transition Year students to the Wetlands, within their environmental module, were also outlined.
The meeting heard an audit is currently being carried out in relation to health and safety and visual improvements at the centre.
