A call has been made for a dedicated Tidy Towns Liaison Officer for each of the four municipal districts in the county.
Cllr Damian Quigg of Sinn Féin says that Kerry County Council should appoint a person who could work with Tidy Towns groups in each area.
He said that councillors were being hounded by Tidy Towns committee for funding and support for various projects.
The council said that Micheál Ó Coileáin is the council’s liaison officer for Tidy Towns committees across the whole county.
Fianna Fáil’s Michael O’Shea suggested that a specific fund was required for Tidy Towns groups in the county as councillors’ own allocations were inadequate to meet demand.
