« BackCall for banks to engage with customers in mortgage arrears

 

Cllr Seamus Cosai Fitzgerald A West Kerry councillor has called for more pressure to be exerted on banks to be more pro-active with customers who are in mortgage arrears.

Cllr Seamus Cosaí Fitzgerald raised the issue at the monthly meeting of Kerry County Council.

The Fine Gael councillor asked that the council call on the Finance Minister and Department of Finance to put pressure on the banks to be more pro-active with customers.

Cllr Cosaí Fitzgeald said those, who are in arrears with their house mortgage, may wish to enter to Mortgage to Rent scheme, which is administered by the relevant councils.
