A major internet and telephone fault in the Dingle area, which affected over 2,700 people, has been described by a local business man as “frustrating”.
Patrick Fitzgerald, owner and manager of Fitzgerald’s Centra in Dingle said this is only the latest of a series of problems experienced by business owners in the area when it comes to internet services.
Banks services and ATMs were affected by the outage which meant people were unable to get cash, get cashback or even pay for items in shops with their credit or debit cards.
According to a statement released by Eir, high winds arising from Storm Jake damaged the radio link which serves over 700 broadband customers and 2,000 landline customers locally.
Thay stated they hope to have repair work completed within the next couple of hours.
However according to Mr Fitzgerald, outages like these are part of an ongoing situation:
