Two elderly brothers, who were found dead at their home in Dublin and were originally from West Kerry, had visited their family in Glens, west of Dingle only last month.

William and Daniel McCarthy, who were in their 70s and were both deaf, were found at the house at Millrose Estate in Bluebell, Dublin on Tuesday.

Gardaí have described the situation as a ‘tragic accident’.

Dingle Fine Gael Councillor Seamus Cosaí Fitzgerald, a native of the same townland as the brothers, said they lived a good and active life in Dublin.

He said they had only visited Glens last month:

Cllr Cosaí Fitzgerald said this is a very difficult time for their immediate family – he urged people, whether they be in rural Ireland, or the middle of Dublin, to check on their neighbours.
