A Brosna man will be commemorated for his part in 1916 this evening.
Bartholomew ‘Batt’ O’Connor was born in 1870, and was a key figure in 1916.
He evaded capture after Austin Stack and Michael Collins were arrested, before making his way to Dublin.
He was transported to Frongoch Internment Camp where he formed a friendship with Michael Collins that lasted through the War of Independence.
The event to commemorate ‘Batt’ O’Connor will begin with a Mass of Remembrance at 7:30 in St Molings Church, Brosna.
