« BackBoy in stable condition following fall into sand sink hole in Kenmare

Shannon HelicopterA 13 year old boy is said to be in a stable condition in hospital having been rescued from a sand sink hole just outside Kenmare.

Valentia Coastguard received the call at around 6.40 yesterday evening requesting assistance.

The incident occurred two miles north of Kenmare at Inchimore.

It is believed that the boy was covered in sand for around 10 minutes before being pulled from the sink hole by his father.

Emergency services attended the scene and Shannon Helicopter Rescue 115 airlifted the boy to Cork University Hospital where he is said to be in a stable condition.
