That’s according to Fine Gael Councillor Seamus Cosaí Fitzgerald who says “it’s his understanding” the size and scope of large electoral areas “are being looked at”.
The West Kerry councillor said Minister Simon Coveney’s Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government may, in some cases, consider a boundary re-draw.
He added however that the process hasn’t yet begun and will be a matter for the Minister of the day to consider.
The South & West Kerry Municipal District came into being at the 2014 Local Elections and geographically is among the largest electoral areas in the country.
