« BackBord Pleanala refuses south Kerry boathouse development

An Bord Pleanala has refused retention for a partially completed boathouse in Waterville.

An Bord Pleanala

Kerry County Council had granted conditional planning permission for the retention and completion of the boathouse and to retain walls measuring 2.7 metres but this was appealed. The board denied the application due to the location of the boathouse on the boundary of the Killarney National Park, Macgillycuddy’s Reeks and Caragh River Catchment Special Area of Conservation adding it could impact on the site. The board also said the boathouse would be visually obtrusive and contrary to proper planning.
