Residents in the Greenfields development in Firies have been informed that bond resolution works will finally start this Monday.
Public lighting has been an issue for more than five years with boyracers taking advantage of poor lighting in the unfinished housing estate to congregate there.
In 2011 it was noted that some planning conditions in the 47 house estate had not been adhered to.
A claim was made on the 300,000 euro bond following an inspection by Kerry County Council.
Cllr Brendan Cronin says a Sligo company has been appointed by the bondsman to carry out the resolution works on sewers, footpaths, water, public lighting and landscaping.
He said it was “the end of a long saga”.
