Two young Kerry brothers are representing Ireland in the world’s largest competition for students.
Brian and Ronan Hand from Blackwater are the only Irish representatives at the University Startup World Cup which begins today in Copenhagen. The students at Cork Insitute of Technology are among 48 teams worldwide who’ve made it to the final of the competition which nurtures innovation and entrepreneurship. 23-year-old Brian who’s a post-grad in mechanical engineering invented their product called Equaliser. This helps cranes transporting goods. Brian came up with the idea when on a work placement at Liebherr Cranes in Fossa.
Brian’s brother Ronan who’s 25 is studying for a masters in mechanical engineering. Both brothers say they’ve gotten great support from their lecturer Sean F O’Leary. Ronan says getting to the final of the University Startup World Cup is a great opportunity.
