« BackBerkeley survivor puts pressure on US authorities to change building laws

22-year-old Aoife Beary, whose father Mike is from Listowel, gave an emotional testimony at a State Assembly hearing in California yesterday, calling for greater transparency in the construction industry.

Her mother also spoke to the Committee, which televises its proceedings.

The Berkeley balcony, which collapsed last summer killing 6 students, had been built by a firm which paid out multi-millions for defects, that were never made public.
