A North Kerry woman has launched a campaign to try to get US authorities allow her deported husband return to New York.
Sarah Casey from Ballyheighue returned to Ireland last week with her husband Hughie O’Donnell and their two children.
Mr O’Donnell from Gweedore in Co Donegal was arrested by immmigration authorities on November 4th.
Although the couple has been living in New York for the past 16 years and Sarah and the children are citizens, her husband is still illegal in the country.
She’s appealing to President Barack Obama to fulfill his commitment to overhaul the rules allowing people whose children are citizens, who have no criminal records and have been in the country for five years, to be naturalised.
