Bail has been granted to a man charged with assault using a golf club in Killarney.
20-year-old Dylan Scannell of 8 Laurel Avenue, Milltown appeared before Tralee District Court yesterday, in connection with the incident on the 30th of July at Pike Hill, Ballycasheen, Killarney.
It’s alleged Mr Scannell approached the victim, who was sitting in an open area, and assaulted him with a golf club, contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.
At yesterday’s sitting of Tralee District Court, solicitor Pa Daly told the court the defendant had a difficult upbringing.
But the help of his foster parent, Mr Daly said Mr Scannell was turning his life around.
Judge James O’Connor granted bail subject to a number of conditions.
€1,500 is be paid, €500 in cash and Mr Scannell must surrender his passport.
The defendant must sign-on at Killarney Garda Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Mr Scannel must also make available a mobile phone number to Gardaí which is active at all times.
The defendant is to appear again before Killarney District Court on October 26th.
