A 38-year-old Tralee man who assaulted a man he didn’t know causing him harm has been warned to pay €1,000 or face jail.
Brian Maunsell of 2 Glenard, Tralee, pleaded guilty to the offence at Castle Street on July 25th last year.
The defendant, who has 11 previous convictions, is also accused of public order offences on that date and on October 17th, 2015, and on February 21st last.
Tralee District Court heard the victim had required five stitches. The assault took place outside a pub at around 1am after the man had refused the accused a cigarette.
