An application to expand and extend the life of a Kerry quarry is being appealed to An Bord Pleanala.
Kerry County Council previously granted conditional permission to the application.
Ardfert Quarry Products applied to Kerry County Council to develop the existing limestone quarry at Sackville, Ardfert and the adjoining townlands of Ballyrobert, Ardrahan and Creegooane.
This involved the expansion of the quarry over 26.3 hectares of agricultural land and thereby extend the life of the quarry by 25 years.
The application also included an upgrade to a septic tank, works to roads and the demolition of a house.
This will allow for the production of 15.8 million tonnes of limestone over 25 years.
This application was granted subject to conditions by Kerry County Council in late August.
That decision has now been appealed by third parties to An Bord Pleanala which will rule on the case by February 23rd next year.
