The Irish Cancer Society is looking for volunteer drivers to take cancer patients to their chemotherapy appointments in Cork and Kerry.
They are currently 35 drivers bringing patients from Kerry to their appointments at Cork University Hospital, Mercy University Hospital and University Hospital Kerry.
However, because of the increase in demand for the service, at least 20 more are needed.
The service was started in Kerry in 2013, one of 18 similar services being operated by the Irish Cancer Society nationwide.
Training is provided and volunteers must be prepared to commit to at least two days every month.
The demand for the service in Kerry has increased by 45 per cent since last year, when 235 journeys were undertaken by volunteers on behalf of Kerry patients.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should contact the Irish Cancer Society at 01-2310566 or email [email protected]
