Aoife Thornton has been elected in the count afresh in the Listowel Municipal District.
It was part of the results of count seven in the count afresh which is taking place following a legal challenge taken by Independent candidate Dan Kiely who narrowly missed out on a seat in 2014.
Count seven involved the distribution of Tom Walsh’s 720 votes.

After count seven Dan Kiely is 4 votes down on where he was at this stage in 2014
Jimmy Moloney is down 4 and Mike Kennelly is down 2.
In the final shake up in 2014 – just five votes separated these candidates; Moloney got the sixth seat, three votes behind him was Mike Kennelly who got the seventh and final seat. Dan Kiely was just two votes behind Kennelly.
Returning Officer Charlie O’Sullivan deemed Aoife Thornton elected and her surplus of 58 votes is now being distributed in count 8.
The quota stands at 1,843 (down 2 on 2014)
