« BackAnother week of road works in Listowel disrupting businesses

Road works in Listowel which were due to be completed today are set to continue for another week.

The Square, Listowel
There are reports that businesses have been disrupted by the works and are unhappy with the extended deadline.
Kerry County Council says works are progressing well on the William Street ‘Multi Utility Project’ and are expected to be substantially completed by Friday December 2nd.
In order to complete works at the Charles Street junction with William Street, the junction will be blocked from today until the completion of the project next week.
Diversions are in place via the John B Keane Rd. and light traffic can divert via Nolan’s Car Park and the Slua Hall/St Patrick’s Hall Lane ways.
This will allow kerbing and road preparation works to proceed over the weekend.
The substantial completion of works will mean that the permanent one-way system can be reintroduced on Church Street and William Street, full on-street parking will return on Church Street and William Street will be fully resurfaced.
Kerry County Council says it is acutely aware of the impact the works are having especially for businesses on Church Street, William Street and Market Street and it appreciates the patience of local residents and business owners.
The local authority is continuing to encourage people to shop locally in the run up to Christmas – with full pedestrian access to shops on William Street being maintained.
Parking will be free of charge after 1pm each day from Thursday 1 December to Saturday 17 December inclusive, with free parking for up to two hours operating from Monday 19 December to Monday 2 January.
Certain off line works may continue after 2nd December but disruption will be minimal.
