An Post is being urged to meet south Kerry post offices over a decision to centralise mail sorting services in South Kerry.
Under the plan 12 post workers will all operate out of one central premises, instead of the current spread between Kenmare, Kilgarvan, Sneem, and Lauragh post offices.
The process is part of a programme that’s already been completed in other parts of the county.
Independent Councillor Dan McCarthy says such as move would be disastrous for rural areas such as Lauragh, which has already lost its garda station.
He wants An Post to come to Kerry and see how important these services are to rural areas in South Kerry.
Deputy Michael Healy-Rae wants mail sorting services in South Kerry to stay as they are.
But when asked if they’ll be centralised to Kilgarvan, he said no decision has yet been made, and there are four options.
