The wife of an 81-year-old paraplegic says she is at her wits end over the cancellation of an ambulance to transport her husband to hospital for medical treatment for the second time.
Jim Scanlon from Listowel was due to attend Kerry General Hospital today for an appointment and an ambulance had been booked three weeks in advance.
However, due to an emergency this morning, the ambulance was cancelled.
Nora Scanlon says she understands an emergency should take priority but there is a lack of resources for people like her husband who need ambulance transport.
Mr Scanlon had been due to attend the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoghaire in July but the ambulance was also cancelled at the last minute.
