« BackNine Kerry students take part in finals of Apprentice Chef Programme at IT Tralee

ITTNine Kerry students are among 24 aspiring chefs from 17 schools in Munster who have made it to the final of this year’s Apprentice Chef Programme at the Institute of Technology Tralee.

The finalists were whittled down from a group of over 500 students, who took part in a series of demonstrations and workshops as part of the programme.

The competition was set up by Mark Doe of Just Cooking Cookery School and resident chef of Radio Kerry’s ‘Talkabout’; and Mark Murphy of Dingle Cookery School and senior lecturer in Culinary Arts at IT Tralee.

The finals take place on Friday and the students will serve restaurant standard dishes to a panel of judges.

The Kerry students through to the final are: Aoife Lynch, Tarbert Comprehensive; Robyn Sheehan, Killarney Community College; Ciaran O Conaill, Pobalscoil Chorca Duibhne, Dingle; Michael Bajewicz, Youth reach Tralee; Marie McCarthy, Meán Scoil Nua an Leith-Triúigh, Castlegregory; Ryan Broderick, St Patrick’s Secondary School, Castleisland; Emily Barrett, Causeway Comprehensive; Aicha Van Daele and Padraic Randles, Pobal Scoil Inbhear Scéine, Kenmare.
