Listowel writers weekThe 45th annual Listowel Writers’ Week kicks off this evening.

 Writers and visitors from across the world will descend on the heritage town, for the event which runs until Sunday.

 The festival will be opened by Pulitzer Prize-winning Paul Muldoon, one of Ireland’s leading contemporary poets.

At the opening ceremony tonight, a number of awards will be presented, including the prestigious Kerry Group Novel of the Year 2016, and the John B. Keane Lifetime Achievement Award.

Máire Logue of Listowel Writers’ Week says there are several themes for this year’s festival, and there’s something for everyone.
