That’s according to the latest data from the Central Statistics Office.
From January to March this year 225 boys and 197 girls were born in Kerry.
That is a birth rate of 11.6 which is well below the national rate of 14.2.
275 of the babies were born to parents who are married or in a civil partnership.
147 were born to unmarried parents and 94 had parents who gave the same address.
The average age of mothers in Kerry is 33.1 years and first time mothers are on average 30.5 years.
Four of the babies born in the period were to mothers under 20 years of age and 42 babies had mothers aged 40 and over.
