« Back36% of drink drivers arrested in Kerry are under 30

Cllr.-Jimmy-MoloneyThe number of drink drivers arrested in Kerry under the age of 30 has increased from one third in the first 6 months to 36% to the end of September.

81 drink drivers arrested in the county were aged between 18 and 30.

Many Cllrs at the Joint Policing Committee meeting this week voiced their surprise and concern at the number of young offenders and called for an education awareness campaign.

In total 218 motorists, have been arrested for drink driving in the first 9 months of the year, 21 to 30 year olds made up the majority of arrests, with 59 men and 9 women driving while intoxicated.
