Planning applications in Kerry rose by 24 per cent in the first six months of the year, compared to the same period last year.

But there has been a significant fall in activity in the residential construction sector in the county, with commencements down by 21 per cent in the same period.
The latest figures from the National Housing Construction Index reveal planning applications have risen by 14 per cent across the country in 2015.
Danny O’Shea of Link2Plans, which aggregates the figures, says they show continued confidence in the sector, despite the fall in commencements.
