68 people have died on our roads so far this year, 13 more than at the same time in 2015.
The figures come as Gardaí announce that 355 new roads will be monitored by speed camera vans. 22 new locations in Kerry will now be monitored by speed camera vans. The new roads bring to 45 the number of locations in the county where the mobile vans will operate. The new locations announced by the Gardaí today and are spread across regional, national and local roads. These include the R551 from Ballyduff to Ballybunion, the R523 from Listowel to Kilmorna, the R555 at Duagh, the N69 at the Six Crosses, R551 at Ballyheigue and the local road at Lerrig, Ardfert. Other new sites according to the Gardai are the R551 between Tralee and Ardfert, the R558 at The Spa, the R556 through Tralee town, R563 at Faha, N70 at Kilderry and Killorglin, N72 at Barraduff and the N22 at Glenflesk. The N86 at Derrymore and Lispole are other new locations. Sections of the N21 from Tralee to Castleisland and N22 Tralee to Killarney roads have also been added.
