A 21-year-old man has appeared before Tralee District Court accused of assaulting an elderly man causing him harm.
Tony O’Brien of 74 Shanakill, Tralee is accused of the assault at Strand Street, Tralee on May 22nd.
The 72-year-old man was on his way home when he was pushed off his bicycle and kicked in the face a number of times, Tralee District Court heard.
The incident happened at around 1am on the road to Loharcannon on May 22nd. The assault ended following the intervention of another person.
Tony O’Brien is also accused of causing €200 euro of damage to Honda Civic car near the Kerins O’Rahilly GAA club and damaging the side mirror of a Volkswagen Bora on the same date.

He is also accused of causing criminal damage to the front door of a house at Lios Rua, Tralee on May 13th.
Judge James O’Connor remanded him on bail to the July 13th sitting of the court.
He imposed a number of conditions, including that Mr O’Brien observe a curfew between 10pm and 8am, have no contact with the injured party, and sign on three times a week at Tralee Garda Station.
An application for legal aid was made by his solicitor Nuala Liston.
