Valentia Observatory recorded a 150 per cent increase in rainfall in December.
The south Kerry weather station had its wettest December since opening 76 years ago according to Met Éireann.
By the end of last month 339 millimetres of rain had fallen in Valentia Observatory.
That is compared to 135 millimetres for the same month in 2014.
December 5th was the wettest day recorded at the weather station last month when 36 millimetres fell in 24 hours.
On the 12th almost 34 millimetres fell and on the 29th 31.5 millimetres fell.
Interestingly for such a wet month the driest day of December was the first when no rainfall was recorded.
