« BackStranded vessel refloated in west Cork

5pm – The Spanish trawler which ran aground on Bere Island in west Cork this morning has been refloated on the tide. The trawler ran aground at around 5am this morning, prompting a rescue operation to get its 11 crew members to safety. The operation was co-ordinated by the Rescue Centre on Valentia Island and involved the Castletown Bere lifeboat, pilot boat and coastguard unit. The coastguard helicopter was put on standby but the crew was brought to safety by the local emergency units. The ship is now docked in Castletown Bere port.
