« Back1,300 home repossession cases before courts in ten day period

More than 1,300 home repossession cases came before the courts in just ten days this month.


Between the July 6th and 16th repossession cases were heard in Tralee, Cork, Clonmel, Nenagh, Naas, Portlaoise, Trim and Dundalk.

131 – the highest numbers of cases – took place in Letterkenny with the second highest number of cases – 110 – were heard in Wicklow.

The figures come as preliminary findings from an ongoing Irish Mortgage Holders’ Organisation survey on the mental impact of debt on 250 families nationwide reveals that large numbers of people reported suicidal thoughts – some with imminent plans to end their own life as they battled mortgage arrears.
