ortec-inc110 jobs are to be created in West Limerick by a leading biomaterial and polymer technology company in the life sciences industry.

Ortec Inc. is to establish a European Headquarters, Manufacturing and Operations Centre in Newcastle West.

The IDA says it’s great news for the wider region, including Kerry.
Founded in 1980 and headquartered in South Carolina, Ortec Inc offers custom materials used in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and other health related industries.


The company will begin its manufacturing operation in a 13,000 square foot leased building in Newcastle West Business Par, but plans to double capacity in the coming months, subject to planning permission.

Ortec Inc will create up to 110 skilled engineering and science jobs in the region over the next several years once the plant is operational.

CEO of IDA Ireland, Abbeydorney native Martin Shanahan says it’s a terrific win for Newcastle West and the wider region.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Employment, Mary Mitchell O’Connor is welcoming the news, saying these are the kind of high quality graduate jobs that Ireland wants to attract.
